Who else LOVES sailor theme?? It’s hard to tell from this picture but it already looks adorable (the jsk), not too thrilled about the skirt, although it sticks out from the regular selection of AP. The price isn’t that bad either (for Angelic Pretty standards)! The anchor with the ribbon is so cute! I can’t wait to see this on a body! No border print this time, but hey, we needed a change.

On reservation now at Baby the Stars Shine Bright is Masquerade Theater. This series comes in a variety of more mature color schemes including navy, red, ivory, and black.
The JSK is delightfully simple (but it doesn’t look it). Unlike most lolita, this one actually looks slimming. Trick of the camera? Perhaps, but I’ll keep dreaming.

The OP version is beautiful, not to mention unique vs what most brands are releasing at the moment. It definitely looks like the more mature part of the story book world, eh? It is much more over the top than the JSK and Skirt versions, but lovely still.

Metamorphose has been busy creating a new line of refreshing prints for this season. Jewel Butterfly is one of the most anticipated new releases, and is available in a vibrant color scheme and wide range of silhouettes.

The newest version, “Shirring JSK”, is a bit saggy and depressing for my liking in these preview cellphone shots from the Meta blog. The drape seems a little strange. If the dress was in my possession it would be tempting to remove this particular detail. The black chiffon appears a little bit nicer, but still, awkward placing much?
Speaking of the black version - the print in black reminds me of Anna Sui. I can’t wait to see this print coordinated on Daily Lolita. I’m sure these preview shots just don’t do the dresses justice.

I love this series! I LOVE the clean and simple design of the dress and print. Again, a little bit old school. A little less OTT. Basically, everything I personally loved about AP coming around full circle. Imagine all the coordinate possibilities. I can’t wait to see all the versions of this on their site and in the Gothic Lolita Bible. Although, I will say.. I almost wouldn’t mind if it was sans border print and just all over strawberries and dots. Ah well.

(Lovin’ the hair but not so much the socks)

Japanese brands seem to be milking Alice more than usual, since the recent adaptation hit screens this spring. Although this series by Metamorphose shares half of it’s name with the recent release from Angelic Pretty (not to mention the pastel stripes) it has an overall different feel. The print is simple but delightful, and there seems to be just enough ruffle and lace. Want to go OTT Sweet? You could definitely pull it off, but you could also coordinate this piece in a more classic and basic lolita style.
My only issue is really that the black version is rather lackluster, with much of the print fading into the stripes.

If you’re about black brand, it would be my opinion to skip this series and move on to the Heart series or something else entirely(unless you are a die hard Alice collector/fan).

Once again Angelic Pretty throws us for a spin heading down OTT lane. This is Wonder Cookie. Notice the multi colored buttons? Personally, it looks like more thought was used in the creation of this design than in recent collections and may even pay some homage to older series. I love the dark blue version of the print, but am not as impressed with the pastel versions of the Jumpers and Skirts.
This time the print is somewhat more rustic along the lines of Emily Temple Cute, perhaps? It features cookies in the forms of teapots, cards, and various sweets with multicolored pastel stripes.
What do you think?
Followers of this often ‘edgy’ lolita brand may be noticing that their designs are starting to look awfully familiar. The brand has been known for elegant basics as well as unusual series to the fashion including Punkma (a colorful camo print) and several retro type get-ups. Lately, however that have been following the sweet trend of pastels and sugary snacks a la Angelic Pretty.
Metamorphose has done sweet style in the past, and it is not known to be one specific type of trend. Fans, however, have been seeing the AP signature look be a rather large inspiration for Meta especially in the preview of their new coordinate which mixes a mint blouse and pastel pink jumper skirt. Their new acrylic bow jewelry looks like AP replicas to a *T.
Is this a good thing?
Personally, I hope they keep things in rotation - they come out with some really great and unique designs every once in awhile that keeps lolitas on their toes.
